Oldham BM25 Hazardous Area Monitor

Continuous Protection for the Workforce from Toxic & Explosive Gases

Replacing the successful Oldham BM22+ is the new BM25 hazardous area monitor certified for use in zone zero rated areas. With up to 170 hours continuous operation on a single charge and supplying a powerful audible alarm (103dB at 1m) and ultra-bright LED flashing beacons, the BM25 is the only stand alone toxic gas monitor your will ever need. For protection of a workforce in a confined space or work area, the BM25 can even be run off trickle charge (via a zener barrier) in the hazardous area providing round-the-clock protection of a wide area.

Up to five sensors can be installed in the BM25 covering a wide range of toxic gases, as well as %LEL detection of explosive gases plus oxygen deficiency, giving total workforce protection. Units can be 'connected' together to give a safety perimeter and a manual call point can be added allowing the entire network to be alarmed together in an emergency situation.

These units are full waterproof and designed to be left in the harshest environments. A stand is available to raise the unit off the ground should monitoring at floor level not be appropriate.

TEK-Ox Diving Oxygen monitor

ew for 2009: an analyser that is designed to make its use as convenient as possible, you simply hold the attached Quick-Ox sampling tube with its hemisphere, flow diffusers and orifice over the cracked tank valve and let the gas migrate up inside the unit to its sensor cell, while most of it escapes freely out through the open end of the tube. You then turn off the tank so that the trapped sample is static. It has an on/off switch, low-battery warning and calibration control.

Reaction time is quick and the display big. It comes with a watertight box and a quick fitting wall-mounting bracket.

Oxy-Integral Portable Oxygen Analysers for TIG Welding

The new Oxy-Integral from Orbitec is accurate at titanium weld purging levels and, when integrated with the company's orbital welding controllers, can isolate the process and provide traceable documentation, enhancing safety and weld integrity. Oxy-Integral is a high accuracy oxygen meter (1-999ppm range) that uses a precision chemical cell (Zirconium Oxide) to determine low-volume oxygen levels compared with normal air. The unit can be calibrated in normal ambient conditions and will read down to one part per million.

With its integrated sampling pump, the latest models can be used independently, as an integrated unit with Orbitec's unique TIGTRONIC controller providing documented traceability or interfaced with any other orbital welding manufacturer's controllers.

The interlock function allows OxyINTEGRAL to be used as a condition isolator, preventing welding taking place where Oxygen levels are likely to cause oxidation or bad welds.

An optional analyser, the Oxy-2, provides calibrated measurement of pure or mixed inert gases and controls processes throughout the welding sequence.

A rechargeable battery pack and base station are standard features of OxyINTEGRAL and its light weight and ergonomic shape make it the ideal portable instrument for all orbital welding applications, whatever the equipment being used.

The Oxy-Integral is designed to process the output from an oxygen sensor made of stabilized zirconium oxide. This material is a ceramic, also known as a solid electrolyte and is ideally suited to high temperatures like those used as an oxygen ion conductor. Such ion conductors whose temperature range is dependent on the composition of the material, possess the capability to fill empty spaces in their crystal structure with oxygen ions. The oxygen ions attach themselves to conductive platinum surfaces. The degree of oxygen concentration in gas determines the degree of oxygen activity and thus, the quantity of oxygen ions.

The Oxy-Integral sensor consists of a solid electrolyte, which is exposed to gas on both sides. One side is in contact with a reference gas: air; the other with the gas to be measured. Using both heated and unheated sensors a computation is done to give an accurate reading. Maintenance and calibration-free make this the premium choice in oxygen analyzing.

The Oxy-Integral is a maintenance-free, non- depleting oxygen indicator with an operating range of 999 ppm to 1 ppm. This unit incorporates an internal pump and is designed for measuring rest oxygen in inert gases such as argon. Using the supplied battery charging station, this unit can be used up to 4 hours before recharging is necessary.

AN300 Specialist Nitrogen Balance Analyser

Developed using start-of-the-art design and the latest manufacturing techniques, the microprocessor based AN300 nitrogen balance analyser has been designed for specialist vehicles applications. The application is the testing of nitrogen in vehicle tyres. Specialist applications (large aircraft, motor racing tyres, heavy machinery) use nitrogen as an inflation gas for a number of reasons; the nitrogen permeates through the tyre casing at around a third of the rate of oxygen, which keeps tyres inflated for longer. It also reduces the oxidation caused by oxygen and water vapour, thus extending the life of the tyre, and has a lower expansion rate with temperature, resulting in more even pressures under various conditions. The monitor has a stem for connecting to the tyre valve.

Featuring easy calibration, settings are secured when the lock key is pressed. In addition the low power draw allows the unit to continuously for 2000 hours on just 3 AA alkaline batteries. The AN300 features the improved N33 oxygen sensor which provides superior long-term stability and accuracy.

G1010 Mark II Series Oxygen Analysers

Applications

The oxygen analysers in the G1010 Series use galvanic cell primary elements and can measure oxygen concentrations from 100% to 0.1ppm (parts per million) in a variety of gases. The instruments are micro-processor-controlled and provide exceptional performance and versatility.

A large multi-digit, auto-ranging LCD shows the concentration and user-adjustable parameters.

Two alarm channels, user-programmable to be high, low or off, each provide one set of volt-free changeover contacts, and can be set to any concentration within the span of the instrument.

A user programmable analogue output can be set to one of several ranges. A choice of 0 to 5v or 4 to 20mA is provided at the time of ordering.

Several versions of sensor are available, enabling the analyser to operate at optimum performance in a diverse range of applications. These include a sensor suitable for operating in the presence of high concentrations of mildly acidic gases such as carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide.

Remote sensor versions are available that allow the separation of the control/ display module and sensor by up to several hundred metres. Depending on the distance and concentration being measured, the sensor is either connected directly to the display module or via an integral two-wire transmitter.

Because the sensor conforms to the ‘simple apparatus’ category as defined by European standard EN 50020, remote sensors may be located in a hazardous area. A suitable zener barrier or galvanic isolator must be inserted between the sensor assembly and the control/display module.

Three other analysers are derived from the G1010: The bench-top G210 is a mains powered analyser which can be equipped with a variety of sampling systems and accessories including a pump, filter and flow control.

The wall-mounting G610 is packaged in an IP65 enclosure allowing it to be located in almost any industrial situation.

The fully portable G810 is fitted with a sample pump as standard and can operate for over 12 hours on its rechargeable battery pack. Specification sheet HPS130 gives full details

The Rapidox 3100 SF6 Gas Analyser: High Specification SF6 Analyser with Moisture and SO2 Detection Included

New for 2009 the Rapidox 3100C SF6 analyser. SF6 is a man-made gas used in high-voltage switchgear because of its great arc quenching capabilities. Partial discharges and leaks over time eventually cause the SF6 to decompose into highly corrosive compounds. It is therefore essential to monitor the condition of the SF6 to protect the equipment from spark damage and corrosion.

The Rapidox 3100C is a multi-gas analyser for the simultaneous measurement of SF6 (0-100%), SO2 (0-100ppm) and dewpoint (-65°C/+20°C). The analyser is designed for controlling and monitoring the quality of SF6 in gas insulated sub-stations and circuit breakers. The analyser not only measures the SF6 gas content in air or nitrogen over the full range, but also measures the moisture content of the SF6 which is essential when monitoring the dielectric strength of the gas. The decomposition products of SF6 can be identified by analysing the SO2 content of the gas; this forms from the breakdown of SOF2 and SOF4 after an electrical discharge. The analyser incorporates an electrochemical SO2 sensor to measure ppm levels of sulfur dioxide. All three gases can be monitored and data-logged simultaneously and just a few minutes are required to get a stable reading.

Regular checking of SF6 gas insulated substations allows fault preventative maintenance programs to be implemented, and increases the life cycle of the SF6.

The analyser has a gas output nozzle allowing all sampled gas to be recovered and recycled, ensuring that no SF6 gas is released into the atmosphere (in accordance with the Kyoto agreement).
